Oak Fire 5:30pm July 22 Mariposa area
Update at 6:45 pm: New evacuation orders have been issued for the Lushmeadows Subdivision and Triangle Rd., from Darrah Rd. to Westfall Rd. and all side roads. Further details on the Oak Fire burning in Mariposa County are below, along with all the earlier evacuations and road closures.
Update at 5:50 pm: CAL Fire now reports the Oak Fire burning in the Midpines area of Mariposa County has grown to 1,300 acres and there is zero containment at this time. All evacuations and road closures can be found below.
Update at 5:25 pm: A new evacuation center has been opened at Mariposa Elementary School, located at 5044 Jones St., Mariposa. New evacuation orders expand the evacuation area to include Silva Road from Triangle to Van Ness Road.
Update at 5:10 pm: CAL Fire reports the fire is 611 acres and there are new evacuation orders which add to the previous orders that included Darrah Road from Triangle to Valley View Road, including all side roads. A CAL Fire information line has been established for the Oak Fire in Mariposa County at (844) 668-3473.
Update at 4:50 pm: The Mariposa CAL Fire dispatch confirms the Oak Fire is 60-70 acres with a potential to spread to one-thousand acres. The fire started after 2:30p.m. Evacuation, road closures, and evacuation center information is below.
Update at 4:20 pm: There are new evacuation orders for the Oak Fire burning in Mariposa County. They include those on Triangle Rd. from Hwy 140 to the community of Darrah and Jerseydale Rd., including all side roads. Additionally, Jerseydale Rd is also closed. More evacuations and road closures are below.
Update 3:50 pm: The evacuation order due to the Oak Fire has been expanded. The map has been updated, but an exact description of the area is not yet available. There are no advisories. The area on the map is an evacuation order to leave due to an imminent threat. A large animal evacuation center is at the Mariposa Fair Grounds. Midpines is approximately 6 miles from the town of Mariposa.
Update 3:28 pm: The Mariposa Sheriff’s Office updated the Evacuation Order issued for Carstens Road, Buckingham Mt. Road, Plumbar Creek Rd., and Triangle from Plumbar to Highway 140. According to the Mariposa dispatch center, which is inundated with calls, the approximate size of the fire is 60 acres. They have no other information at this time.
An Evacuation Center has been established at the New Life Christian Church located at 5089 Cole Road in Mariposa.
Carstens Road, Triangle Road from Hwy 140 to Carlton Road, Buckingham Mt. Road, and Plumbar Creek Road are all closed.
Original post 3:16 p.m.: Mariposa County, CA — If you heard the Columbia aircraft take off, they are heading to Mariposa County to assist with a vegetation fire in the Midpines area.
CAL Fire reports the fire broke out in the 4900 block of Carstens Road, off of Highway 140 and just north of the community of Midpines. The size of the fire is unknown, as dispatch reports that when firefighters arrived on the scene, it was a half-acre in size, but it is rapidly spreading.
The image box shows where the Mariposa Sheriff’s Office has ordered evacuations. According to PG&E, all Midpines are currently without power. An update will be provided as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
